Ten Pantos Not To Miss 2018

Stuck for ideas on where to see a great panto this festive season? Oh no, you’re not!

Where’s the best pantomime in London and the south-east this Christmas? It’s behind you! Sorry, no, it isn’t. It’s in Encore Radio’s 10 pantos not to miss in 2018 list below. We’ve teamed up with some of our friends across the south-east to let you know about the biggest, funniest pantos coming to a theatre near you this winter.

1. Peter Pan – Beck Theatre, Hayes

Swapping the Coronation Street cobbles for Captain Hook, Ryan Thomas stars in this high-flying pantomime adventure. Set sail with your shipmates and head for Neverland where you’ll be hooked on Peter Pan. Featuring magnificent scenery, beautiful costumes, comedy and stunning flying sequences, it’s the perfect festive treat and outstanding family entertainment!

2. Dick Whittington – Fishers Farm Park, West Sussex

A live performance in the cosy Fishers Barn Theatre packed with songs, slapstick, silliness and fairy-tale magic – the classic Dick Whittington Pantomime at Fishers is the must-see entertainment of the year! Explore the legend of Dick Whittington and his famous black cat as they embark on an enchanting adventure!

3. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – Grove Theatre, Dunstable

Don’t miss the spectacular, fun-packed, family pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, starring Charlie Brooks (I’m a Celebrity… EastEnders) and the hugely popular, Richard David-Caine and Joseph Elliott (CBeebies’ Swashbuckle). Written by Paul Hendy and produced by Evolution, who brought the previous year’s record-breaking, Sleeping Beauty!

4. Aladdin – Harlow Playhouse

Featuring our exciting blend of live music, quality professional performers, stunning sets, lavish costumes and jaw-dropping effects. The Harlow Playhouse is the home of family pantomime in Essex this Christmas.

5. Dick Whittington And His Cat – South Hill Park’s Wilde Theatre, Bracknell

Join Dick Whittington And His Cat on their daring journey through London to seek fame and fortune. Will the streets be paved with gold? Will he defeat the dastardly King Rat? Will he win the hand of the lovely Alice? Experience this sparkling production filled with music and mayhem.

Performances from Friday 30 November 2018 – Saturday 5 January 2019. One relaxed performance on Tuesday 4 December at 4.30pm, and one British Sign Language Performance on Saturday 8 December at 2pm.

6. Sleeping Beauty – The Capitol, Horsham

This tale of a cursed young girl, who sleeps for 100 years before being woken by true love’s kiss, is a rollercoaster ride through time, laughter and song. With musical theatre and pop songs, jokes and audience participation, Christmas at The Capitol will be a feast of festive family entertainment.

7. Peter Pan – Aylesbury Waterside Theatre

Get ‘hooked’ on this must-see magical pantomime! Star of Holby City and Coronation Street John Michie is villainous baddie Hook, alongside Britain’s Got Talent’s La Voix, Nickelodeon’s Holly Atterton, and funnyman Andy Collins returning in this swashbuckling adventure! Enjoy a family show full of fun, fairy dust and pirates galore!

8. Aladdin – The Orchard Theatre, Dartford

Jump aboard a high-flying magical carpet headed for Dartford. Follow the evil sorcerer Abanazar (Marti Pellow), Aladdin, Wishee Washee (Ricky K) and, Widow Twankey (David Robbins), on a spectacular adventure. This year’s Orchard Theatre Pantomime will see audiences transported to Old Peking on a thrilling 3D Magic Carpet ride.

10. Jack and the Beanstalk – Mercury Theatre

Jack and the Beanstalk promises laughter, sparkle and excitement for the whole family! Starring panto favourites Antony Stuart-Hicks, Dale Superville and Carli Norris, and packed with music and dancing. Last year’s Mercury panto was nominated for five Great British Panto Awards, including Best Pantomime and Best Script!
