Full casting has been announced for the West End production of Come from Away, which is set to star Rachel Tucker when it opens at the Phoenix Theatre in January.
Tucker will lead the UK and Ireland cast of the show, which premieres in December at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin before transferring to the Phoenix Theatre in the West End.
Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the musical follows the events following 9/11, when a number of planes were forced to ground in a small Canadian town in Newfoundland called Gander. The town, which had a population of around 9,600, welcomed over 7,000 stranded passengers, with most residents feeding, clothing and putting a roof over their heads.
Tucker will star alongside a cast that also includes Jenna Boyd, Nathaneal Campbell, Clive Carter, Mary Doherty, Robert Hands, Helen Hobson, Jonathan Andrew Hume, Harry Morrison, Emma Salvo and Cat Simmons.
Come From Away is produced in the UK and Ireland by Junkyard Dog Productions and Smith & Brant Theatricals. The European premiere of Come From Away will be co-produced with the Abbey Theatre, Ireland’s National Theatre.
